Creating Custom Calendar Views

Occasion gives many different ways to create custom calendars for your business. A custom calendar is a way to filter only some events into a public calendar.

Below are some instances in which you may want to build a custom calendar feature:

  1. Private events calendar vs. Public events calendar
  2. Event calendar for location A vs Event calendar for location B
  3. Events grouped by common type

Step 1: Find a common "grouping" criteria

There are three ways you can group events in Occasion which can then be used to create custom calendars.

  1. Group by location
  2. Group by common word in event title
  3. Group by common word in event description

Step 2: Create custom calendar based on the "grouping" criteria

Now, let's create a custom calendar based on each of the above grouping criteria.

  1. After logging into your Occasion account - go to "Marketing" > "Views"
  2. Click the "Create new view" button at the top right corner
  3. Give the view a name and select a template
  4. Go to the "Display" tab and customize the look and feel of the template
  5. Go to the "Filter" tab
    1. Group by location
      1. If you wish to show events by each location in your account, select a location from the dropdown and create the new view.
    2. Group by common word in event title
      1. If you wish to use a common word, say "Private" or "Spanish" or "Swimming"
      2. Type the common word in the "Filter by Title" box and create the new view.
    3. Group by common word in event description
      1. If you wish to use a common word, say "#kids", "#adults"
      2. Type the common word in the "Filter by Description" box and create the new view.
