Accessibility & Screen Reader Support on Checkout

Occasion's checkout is built to work for everyone — including customers who use screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, or other assistive technologies.

In this article, we'll cover:

What's Supported in Standard Checkout

The standard booking checkout meets WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards, which is the technical benchmark for ADA-compliant digital experiences.

Here's what that means for your customers:

  • Screen reader support — Pages use semantic HTML landmarks so screen readers can navigate the page efficiently.
  • Labeled form fields — Every contact and attendee field has a visible and programmatic label, so customers know exactly what to fill in.
  • Live order summary updates — Changes to the order summary are announced automatically to screen readers as customers make selections.
  • Keyboard navigation — All interactive elements are reachable and usable with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus ring on each element.
  • Required field indicators — Required fields are marked in a way that works for both visual and assistive technology users.

Gift Card Checkout

We're actively working to bring gift card checkout up to the same accessibility standard.

If accessibility is important to your customers, we recommend using the standard checkout flow in the meantime.
