Setting-up Gift Cards

With Occasion's Gift Cards feature, you can easily sell Gift Cards (or Gift Certificates) online. The first step to selling gift cards is to set them up in your Occasion workspace.

Managing gift card sales helps you increase revenue, provide flexible customer options, and create opportunities for new customer acquisition through gift recipients.

Set Up Modern Gift Cards (Recommended)

The modern gift card system provides a streamlined setup process with enhanced features:

Steps to set up modern gift cards:

1. After logging into your Occasion workspace, click on "Gift Cards"
2. Click "Settings"
3. Under "Gift card options," click "Add option"
4. Configure your gift card options:
   • Value: Enter the gift card amount (e.g., $100)
   • Offer at a discounted price: Check this box if you want to sell the gift card for less than its value
   • Price: If offering a discount, enter the sale price
   • Give this a name: Check this box to create a custom name for the option
   • Name field: Enter a meaningful label (e.g., "Standard Class 1 Person")
   • Description: Add optional customer-facing description
5. Click "Save" to add the option
6. Repeat steps 3-5 to add multiple gift card values
7. Set expiration date if applicable
8. Click "this link" to preview your gift card listing

Set Up Legacy Gift Cards

For legacy gift cards, you'll need to use the "Specific gift cards" section to make edits.

Steps to set up legacy gift cards:

1. Go to "Specific gift cards"
2. Click "Edit"
3. Complete each of these steps:

Under the "Basic" tab

• Provide a clear title and description explaining what customers are buying

Under the "Image" tab

• Upload an appealing image that makes it exciting for customers to buy a gift card

Under the "Pricing" tab

1. Click "Add pricing question" button
2. Select "Dropdown > Pricing" from the pop-up
3. Enter "Select Gift Card Values" as the title
4. Check the box to make it "required"
5. Add your gift card values:
   • Description: "$100"
   • Price: "$100"
6. Add as many gift card values as needed
7. Click "Save" to save changes

Under the "Email Receipts" tab

• Gift Card Redemption Instructions include clear instructions on how to redeem the gift card

Final steps

1. Click "Share" on the top-right corner to obtain the gift card link
2. Preview your gift card before going live

Setting Expiration Date for Gift Cards

You can control when your gift cards expire to match your business policies and local regulations.

Steps to set expiration dates:

1. Go to Settings > Account Settings > Your Business
2. Click on "Credit"
3. Set automatic expiration rules for:
   • Gift Cards
   • Account Credits
   • Referral Rewards (if applicable)
4. Choose to set expiration upon creation or manually set dates

You can set the number of days after which a gift card expires, or choose "Never expires" for gift cards without expiration dates.
