Build Your One-Time Cooking Event

Setting up a cooking class in your Occasion workspace is easy. Whether you're hosting a pasta-making workshop or a bread-baking course, you'll have everything organised and ready for your attendees in no time.

Access the Listing Editor

  1. Log in to your Occasion workspace.
  2. From your dashboard, click on "Listings" from the sidebar menu.
  3. Select "My Templates" and click “Create listing” on the template titled "Use this for classes that meet one time.”

Now, you’re in the Listing Editor, where you can start customizing your cooking class.

Enter Basic Class Information

Let’s start by filling in the important details about your cooking class:

  • Class Name: Choose a name that clearly describes the type of class you’re offering (e.g., “Homemade Pasta Workshop” or “Baking Basics: Sourdough Bread”).
  • Class Description: Provide a brief description of what attendees will learn (e.g., “Master the art of homemade pasta from scratch” or “Learn to bake a perfect sourdough loaf”). If you need inspiration, use the AI tool to help generate ideas.
  • Event Type: Select "Class" from the dropdown menu.
  • Checkout Style: Choose how you’d like your customers to book:
    • Old Checkout: A retro version of the checkout process—similar to the new layout but with an older, less refined design.
    • New Checkout: A modern, streamlined one-page design that brings all booking details together in a single view for a faster, more user-friendly experience.

Set Class Pricing

Clear pricing makes it easy for students to sign up:

  • Scroll down in the Listing Editor and click on "Add Question."
  • Select “Fixed Attendee Pricing.” Enter the price per attendee (e.g., $85) and the maximum number of spots you can accommodate each attendee (e.g., 10 people).

Make sure your pricing reflects the value of the class.

Add Images

Great images can inspire potential students to join your cooking class:

  • Click the "Images" tab and then "Upload Images."
  • Upload up to 5 high-quality photos that showcase your cooking studio, the dishes attendees will prepare, or the ingredients you’ll use. You can also use stock photos from Unsplash if you don’t have your own images yet.

Adding images from your previous classes or a preview of the food they'll be making can make your listing more inviting.

Schedule Your Class

Set up the date and time for your cooking class:

  • On the "Time Slot" tab, click "+ Add New Time Slot."
  • Select the date and enter the start and end times (e.g., Friday, November 3rd, 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM).
  • Click "Save" to lock it in.

You can add multiple dates if you plan to offer the same class more than once.

Set Class Availability

Decide how many students can attend:

  • Go to the "Availability" tab.
  • Enter the maximum number of attendees (e.g., 12 spots for a pasta-making class).

This helps ensure that your class doesn’t get overbooked and everyone gets personal attention.

Building Your Roster

Make sure you have the necessary information from your students before the class:

  • In the "People" tab, find the "Attendee Questions" section.
  • Check the boxes for First Name, Last Name, and Allergies.

Click "Save Attendee Information" once you’ve made your selections.

Add Additional Pricing (If Required)

If you need to collect sales tax or collect a set percentage tip

  • Go to the "Additional Pricing" tab.
  • Enter your rate (e.g., 8%) and Occasion will automatically apply them to each booking.
